What's the difference between 'upcycled' and 'cut and sew'?

In the context of my clothing brand 'upcycling' is using second hand clothing and working with it to create something new. For example taking an existing T-shirt and adding prints to it. Or fixing ripped jeans using a funky patchwork method.

'Cut and sew' means constructing a garment by cutting out fabric using a sewing pattern. It's more labour intensive as I'm creating the whole shape and design of the item rather than just adding to something.

Sizing

The upcycled vintage and pre-loved items will have inconsistent sizing as they are originally made by a variety of brands. I will include the measurements in each description.

For my handmade items there is a sizing chart included in the descriptions. If something is not in your size and you'd like something similar, please get in contact with me (more info on the customs page). I can create something in your size for the same price.

We can't always control the range of sizes as everything is sourced second hand. The handmade items are always made in a limited run to avoid waste / overproduction. But we aim to be inclusive with sizing and make it easy for you to request something!

Returns

If you're unhappy with your purchase you can either swap for another item of the same value or return for a full refund. You will need to cover cost of postage. This needs to be processed within 14 days of purchase and the item returned as it arrived.

We run a scheme aiming to keep fashion circular, so if you have a Trouser Project item that you don't wear anymore you can return it to us and get 30% off your next purchase. We hate the idea of clothes being sat at the back of the wardrobe not in use!

Please contact me for returns and swaps.

Mending

If your item rips or breaks, you can send it back to us to be fixed for free. All you need to do is cover postage cost. We want clothes to live for as long as possible!

Care

We recommend washing your items on 30 degrees and don't tumble dry. This will help the clothes to last longer.

Postage

All items are sent with a tracking number. After it's sent we are not liable for damage or loss. You will need to contact royal mail in this case. (That rarely happens though, normally everything arrives safely!)

You can also choose to collect from my studio in Brighton, option at the checkout.
